Kakilang: Home X

Dance performance meets cutting edge technology in this live show combining theatre, music, gaming and VR technology created with artists in London and Hong Kong.

Mythological yet futuristic, HOME X is a visually stunning virtual world connecting performers in Hong Kong and Cambridge in real-time using depth-sensing cameras which capture 3D video.

Exploring themes of roots and belonging, destruction and renewal, this ground-breaking experimental performance features live music, dance and moving real-life testimony of home and migration. Audiences can discover a virtual land inhabited by magical creatures through a panoramic 270-degree projection.

Featuring an original live electronic music score by An-Ting 安婷 in the UK, with opera singer Colette Lam performing soprano in Hong Kong, and live break dance by choreographers Si Rawlinson in the UK and Suen Nam in Hong Kong.

HOME X is co-produced by Kakilang and their Hong Kong partner, Don’t Believe in Style.

“We’re delighted to present this genuinely innovate show which includes stories shared by Cambridge residents about their thoughts and feelings about home. This Cambridge Junction commission blends live performance, virtual reality and new music, with the company’s performers in person in Cambridge and also through the magic of digital tech beamed direct from Hong Kong”. Matt, Artistic Director, Cambridge Junction
