Troopfest is a festival of work made by members of Troop, our artist development scheme for local artists.

Most of the programme takes place in our studio theatre, J3, creating an informal, intimate and supportive atmosphere. Some work can take place in J2 and elsewhere in the building by agreement.

The festival consists of 3 strands:

  • Trooping North (Edinburgh Previews) – Full-length finished works which are going to the Edinburgh Fringe in August
  • First Manoeuvres  – extracts and works-in-progress of less than 10 minutes
  • This is not a Drill – a short performance made & performed by Troop members following a week-long creative intensive led by a professional theatre maker. In 2016 it was led by Nigel Barrett & Louise Mari.

Trooping North artists & companies in 2016 were Temper Theatre, Juliette Burton, Mighty Heart Theatre, Fay Roberts, ThisEgg, Amanda Kelleher.
