Troopfest

Callout & Application Guidelines
Full-length Edinburgh previews & cabaret slots

Troopfest 25-27 July 2017

Background
Troopfest is Cambridge Junction’s 3-day mini-festival of work made by members of our artist development scheme Troop. Each evening consists of three strands:

  • This is not a Drill - A short ensemble work performed by Troop members created with RashDash
  • Mini Manoeuvres - An interval cabaret of short open-mic slots
  • Trooping North - A full-length Edinburgh Fringe preview

The idea behind Troopfest is to give Troop members who are taking shows to Edinburgh the chance to preview work at Cambridge Junction, and to give our audiences ‘a taste of the Edinburgh Fringe’ on their doorstep. It comes a week after the Cambridge Comedy Festival which presents Edinburgh comedy previews on Jesus Green. This year we plan to create a festive atmosphere at the Junction where audiences can hang out in our festival bar and listen to cabaret, comedy, music etc. in the interval.

What we are looking for

  • Trooping North - Full-length shows in any theatre genre (eg. theatre, spoken word, live art, dance, circus, etc). Shows must be going to Edinburgh in August.
  • Mini Manoeuves - Very short (up to 7 minutes) performance slots suitable for a small cabaret stage in the bar during the interval. They need to be funny, loud, musical or otherwise attention-grabbing to compete with the bustle of the bar!
  • This is not a Drill - A callout for participants for the workshop intensive led by Rash Dash will be made separately. If you are interested in taking part in this, hold the dates 17-21 July for the workshop (10am-6pm every day), and the three evenings 25-27 July for the performances.

Technical Info
Trooping North performances will be in our theatre space J2 or our studio theatre J3. You will have a day to get-in and tech. Mini Manoeuvres will take place in the bar, and have around 20 minutes tech time per slot.

Financial Info
Trooping North shows will receive an 80% share of box office takings once 20 seats have been sold to family & friends. (We will ask you to supply us with a list of names prior to receiving your settlement.) Mini Manoeuvres will receive £20 each towards expenses on presentation of a minimum of 2 names who have bought tickets.
