Interactive Workshop: The New Creatives - South East

Date:Thu 30 May
Time:1 - 4pm
Venue:J3
Price:Free*

Screen South is working in partnership with BBC Arts and Arts Council England to deliver the New Creatives commissioning opportunity for South East regional talent, as part of a new national programme. This ground breaking initiative will offer new commissions to 100 new and emerging Artists and Digital Creatives across the South East aged 16-30 in Film, Audio and Interactive.

Our interactive commissions, up to £20,000, are opportunities to develop and create immersive audio and video works which can give insight into a powerful experience, situation or location. These concepts may be VR/AR ideas, venue based VR, 360 online videos, or binaural audio experiences in physical spaces. The deadline for submissions is June 20th 2019. With this call we will commission 2 Interactive projects.

This workshop will allow you to find out how you can apply for the Interactive strand to New Creatives, as well as:

•    get an introduction to BBC Arts and BBC Research and Innovation
•    see different models of narrative interaction from games, film and audio.
•    discuss the difference between ‘immersion’ and ‘interaction’
•    brainstorm with the group
•    a chance to get feedback on your ideas

You will also get an exciting rundown of technologies you can use to try out your ideas straight away, including BBC Storyformer, Bitsy, Pico8 and Echoes.
