Samira Elagoz: Cock Cock.. Who’s There?

Date:Sat 25 May
Time:12.30pm
Venue:J2
Price:Festival pass £25 (£10 con)

In Cock, Cock… Who’s There?, artist Samira Elagoz takes us along on her personal research project across three continents. From online platforms, to close encounters with several men, Elagoz showcases gender relations in their brutal and wonderful ambivalence.

Based on Elagoz’s personal experience of rape, Elagoz takes the audience on her journey of regaining power and attempts to relate to men. She explores desire, the power of femininity and the female gaze in a world in which the virtual and the real are inextricably intertwined.

Cock, Cock… Who’s There? has been an international touring success and has won the Prix Jardin d’Europe at Impulstanz and the Total Theatre Award in Edinburgh.

“..possibly the best thing at the Edinburgh Fringe this year… The result is piece of art that’s far more nuanced, intelligent and adult in its consideration of sexuality and femininity than the vast majority made on the subject.”
Exteunt Magazine

“..when you have seen the work you can’t but join its praisers. This is unlike anything you’ve seen before.”

“ ( ★★★★ ) ..her apparent fearlessness in the face of potentially dangerous and pervy internet strangers, her archly sexualised femininity–engenders discomfort and forces us to question our own prejudice.”
