"Renata Rosa is a complete joy to hear." Songlines

Renata Rosa is one of the most-celebrated exponents of the music from the Northeast of Brazil but in her music, she also includes some influences from the Middle East, North of Africa and the East of Europe. Renata's music career has been awarded important prizes, such as Choc de L'année given by Le Monde de la Musique, two prizes Coup de Coeur, BRAVO Prize by TRAD Magazine and also Premio da Musica Brasileira to name a few.

Renata plays the "rabeca" a rudimentary violin of Arabic origin introduced to Brazil by the Portuguese colonizers in the 16th Century. In her repertoire, she includes Indigenous and Brazilian Northeastern polyphonies, being the latter one of her first music schools. The rhythms of her music are mostly original from the Pernambuco area such as cocos, baiões, cirandas and macumbas (rituals) produced by the 10 and 7 string guitars and the percussion.

She performed at Celtic Connections in January 2017, to a full house City Halls in Glasgow. In that same year she was interviewed by Songlines Magazine in the January issue and in March 2017 her album "Encantações" was selected as Top of the World albums.

She was nominated for Best Artist in the Songlines Music Awards in 2018.

"Rosa and her band flow through their set in a relaxed, almost telepathic empathy; their unhurried preparations contrasting sharply with the driving energy of the music" Folk Radio
