Nicola Gunn: Piece for Person and Ghetto Blaster

Date:Wed 09 Oct
Time:7.30pm
Venue:J2
Price:Pay What You Feel

At some point, everybody has to draw the line between good and evil, right and wrong. And sometimes, that line involves a duck.

Nicola Gunn’s piece is part philosophical monologue, part whimsical dance performance, wholly original.

A woman sees a man throwing stones at a sitting duck and she yells at him. What follows is a dissection of the excruciating realms of human behaviour and a navigation of the moral and ethical complexities of intervention.

Gunn is an award-winning writer, director, performer and designer.

Combining text, choreography and visual art, Gunn makes contemporary performance work in response to a self-generated impulse to tell a story or explore a form.

"Nicola Gunn’s theatre is tantalising, entertaining, ridiculous and often bewildering in the best possible way. This marvellously eccentric, charming and mischievous performer has created yet another stylish, inventive and startling work…mesmerising and unforgettable."
Kate Herbert, Herald Sun

"Comic Genius… Gunn's text is intricate and often brilliant, full of unpredictable digressions and curious factoids. It's the verbal equivalent of skimming stones over water."
Cameron Woodhead, The Age

“Gunn's performance is a feat of quietly jaw-dropping dexterity”
Maxim Boon, The Music

"Mordantly witty, and wittily digressive."
Owen Richardson, Daily Review
