Open Mic Club is back! Join the vibrant community of young aspiring musicians and creatives aged 14-25, where you can collaborate with industry professionals, develop performance skills and deepen your understanding of the music industry, at Cambridge Junction.
This dynamic, supportive, and creative space offers a platform for emerging artists to grow, learn, and showcase new work, providing insights and opportunities to develop and build a strong foundation for a successful career in music.
Every workshop is facilitated by JayaHadADream and DJ Bosslady, who will respond to your interests to shape the session.
Bring your tracks along to test out material and perform within a supportive workshop space, shadow our technicians to develop sound and lighting skills, work with DJ Bosslady to learn or grow your DJ skills, or just come along to see if the space is right for you!
There is pizza and refreshments at every session.

DJ Bosslady is a multi-genre DJ from Cambridge who began her career in 2006. Since then, she’s been a driving force in the UK underground dance music and rave scene, playing at iconic venues such as Lacota, Concord 2, and the Black Swan, as well as countless warehouse parties across major UK cities.
After years on the road, she returned to the East of England to launch Rewind DJ Academy, a business dedicated to breaking down barriers in DJing. Through workshops and lessons open to all ages, she makes DJ culture more accessible, inclusive, and diverse by tackling financial barriers and gatekeeping. She has worked with organisations including Cambridge Junction, the University of Cambridge, CSVPA, the Fitzwilliam Museum, and Kettle’s Yard, and also won the Platinum Award at the BIPC Jumpstart competition 2024.
Alongside teaching, Bosslady continues to gig regularly, with annual sets at major festivals including Glastonbury, Boomtown, Balter Festival, and Shambala. She also runs Cambridge’s monthly Open Decks Night, a community space designed to create opportunities for DJs and for music lovers to connect and celebrate DJ culture together.
Jamaican-Irish rapper JayaHadADream is one of the UK’s most exciting new voices, blending raw, introspective lyricism with grime and hip hop influences. Raised in Cambridge and shaped artistically in Nottingham, she took an unconventional path into music—starting a career teaching at just 21, before leaving the profession in 2023 to pursue music full-time.
Her breakout came in 2024 when she won the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition, handpicked by Michael and Emily Eavis, earning a coveted slot on one of the festival’s main stages. Since then, she’s lit up Reading, Leeds, Boomtown, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, and SXSW London, with a range of packed sets at Glastonbury 2025. Known for her emotive delivery and sharp pen, Jaya has received critical acclaim from Rolling Stone UK, NME, and Clash Magazine, with airplay on BBC Radio 1, Capital Xtra and Kiss.
Her bold, genre-spanning sound has led to standout collaborations in both rap and electronic music, including tracks with Frisco, Flowdan, JME, Zero and Big Zuu. With co-signs from Mick Jenkins, Giggs and so many more, JayaHadADream is defining the future of UK rap.
