Junction Young Company

Junction Young Company is an advanced training programme for committed performers aged 14 to 21 that provides an opportunity to work with innovative directors, theatre companies and visiting artists. The Company will develop skills in a wide variety of theatrical conventions and styles, culminating in an innovative public performance on the J2 stage.

The company will meet Mondays, 6 – 8pm from September – April. In the lead up to the performances, there will be some intensive rehearsals during school holidays in Term Two.

Typically, a programme of JYC will consist of:

Term One (Sep – Dec) Work with a leading theatre professional to develop key skills and techniques in movement, voice, character creation, devising, cross-art form performance and more.

Term Two (Jan - April)  Junction Young Company will work with an innovative director to create an original devised production to be performed to a public audience on the J2 stage in April.

In the spring 2018, we welcome back Hester Chillingworth who is now Creative Producer: Participation and Engagement with Forced Entertainment, who will be working with JYC to create an original devised production to be performed in J2. Hester makes performances and low-key interventionist installations, which often play with language, simplicity and misinterpretation, and for this project will be drawing upon the Forced Entertainment's unique processes in the making of the work.

If you are interested in becoming a member sign up for a free taster session that takes place on Monday 15 January 2018, in J3 Cambridge Junction. We are looking for people who show commitment, passion and can work effectively as part of the company.
