SPILL Festival
26-31 October

The East region’s very own international festival of radical performance returns for its third Ipswich iteration from 26th to 31st October. This year offers a few new elements - there is a day long Symposium at University Campus Suffolk on 26th; a new festival hub – the SPILL Dome - hosting late night music and social events in Cromwell Square; a new strand of family-friendly work; and walking tours of Ipswich led by diverse local residents, activists and artists.

The rest of the programme is a glorious mix of work by emerging, established, UK and international artists, most of which will surprise you in some way. If you’ve never experienced SPILL I’d recommend getting a day pass and just grazing the programme to see as much as you can. I always come away with my head full of incredible new ideas and images.

Three things I’m particularly looking forward to:

•    Luminous - Mem Morrison
•    Work Songs and New Pastorals – an evening of sound & music inspired by labour, the fields and beyond
•    Entertainment Island – Oblivia (one of the cleverest, funniest pieces of theatre I’ve ever seen)
