Spring 2026 Arts Season Announced
We are excited to announce our spring arts season, packed full off theatre, dance, storytelling and more.
Opening the season acclaimed storytellers Sarah Liisa Wilkinson and Lucy Lill present Queen of Between, the mythic tale of Hecate, the many-shaped goddess of birth, death, weasels, hellhounds, crossroads, thresholds and ghosts in the first of two shows presented with Cambridge Storytellers.
Please Do Not Touch by former Birmingham Poet Laureate Casey Bailey and directed by award-winning theatre maker Gail Babb asks important questions about colonial legacy and contested heritage whilst shining a light on the criminal justice system.
A fast, fun multimedia look at the media rise, fall and rise again of Janet Jackson, Paula Varjack’s Nine Sixteenths explores themes of representation and pop culture with a nostalgia for the early 2000s, along with the hopes and dreams of 4 black female performers.
Returning to the J2 stage are Sababa Co. with a compelling dance‑theatre work choreographed and directed by Bar Groisman. Coiled Up delves deeply into the paradox of life with a womb — the beauty, the suffering, the unpredictable, unforgettable moments.
Winners of the Untapped Award 2025, Emergency Chorus present Ways of Knowing, a dance theatre work which delves into the ways we predict and prophesy the future, from early meteorological devices to corporate trend forecasting and divination.
In March Cambridge Junction join forces with Cambridge Zero to present The Sustainable Travel Agency as part of Cambridge Festival. Created by artist Jenny Gaskell, this participatory audio performance will feature mini holidays, mocktails, a red blazer and warm reassuring smiles.
The Crick Crack Club together with Cambridge Storytellers present the welcome return of acclaimed storyteller Ben Haggarty, alongside multi-instrumentalist Jonah Brody in Orpheus Dismembered, a powerful retelling of the famous Greek myth.
Closing the season are Cambridge Junction resident company Menagerie with a compelling piece of new writing, Albatross, from one of the finest young playwrights working in Britain today and winner of the 2025 George Devine Award, Martha Loader. Taking us to the very boundaries of love in the age of climate catastrophe this new play asks what we’re willing to sacrifice for a better future.
As well as the eclectic mix of theatre and dance shows Cambridge Junction is pleased to conform the return of local drag talent night Comfort Zone, improvised performance night Moving Compositions, and opportunities to see works-in-progress by members of the arts centre’s artist develop scheme, Troop.
“Vivid storytelling, urgent and engaging new writing, vital and inspiring contemporary dance and performance, our spring season shares the power of live performance and creativity in all its wondrous forms. Our suggestion for your new year’s resolution is to make art one of your five-a-day!” Matt Burman, Artistic Director at Cambridge Junction
