A message from our Head of Creative Learning, Beth Bailey…
We are so pleased to relaunch Big Bang Theory this year, with a jam-packed schedule of hands-on industry experiences! This year Big Bang Theory participants will work with a team of skilled technical engineers to explore mixing live sound, lighting design, understanding technical riders and setting up the stage, and the theory behind live sound. The week will culminate in the participants teaming up with Fiver bands and artists to mix the sound for their gig in our 850 capacity venue!
Here’s what some of last year’s cohort had to say about the programme:
“I went in not knowing anything about sound, but now I know how to set up a stage and confidently mix sound live.”
“I really enjoyed the build up to the event and finally using my new skills at the fiver. It was lovely seeing it all come to life!”
“I developed skills in socialising, and understanding safety and security as well as the ins and outs of what it can be like to have multiple bands performing in one night and what requirements must be met”
You do not need any previous experience to apply for Big Bang Theory, and full bursary places are available for those with financial barriers.
All session will be facilitated by a team of support workers, and we encourage applications from young people who may need some additional support in place to engage with the programme.
If you have any questions about the programme or access provision, please do email me at beth.bailey@junction.co.uk
