A Hoipolloi & Royal Court co-production in association with Pleasance, PBJ Management and Theatre Royal Plymouth. Supporting Street Child United World Cup 2018

Me & Robin Hood is the second in a series of solo shows from Hoipolloi’s award-winning Artistic Director Shôn Dale-Jones that questions ‘the value of art’ and the power of story.

Following on from The Duke, which captured the public’s imagination with its combination of theatre and fundraising, raising over £36,500 in its first year of touring, Me & Robin Hood has been produced to raise money for Street Child United World Cup 2018. Street Child United are a charity that uses the power of sport to change the way the world negatively sees and treats street-connected children, so they can be protected, respected and supported to build a life away from the streets.

In Shôn’s words, “I was left with no choice by Robin but to make this provocative new show, Me & Robin Hood…”I love Robin Hood. We’ve been best friends for over forty years - ever since I met him as a seven-year old boy in autumn 1975. Recently, we’ve spent a lot more time discussing the state of the world. He is 100% convinced that the main reason for the recent turmoil is down to the growing gap between rich and poor. Robin says we need to change the story of money. This show is his idea. He says it’s the only thing I can do if I want to make the world a better place. And, like Robin says, we can definitely do a lot better than we’re doing at the moment.

It’d be great if you can make it - the more people who come to the show, the better the chances are that something good might happen. To start the process, tickets are priced at £5 and £10. You decide what to pay. As Robin says, both are a steal, priced well below market value. And bring cash to the performance, we have more work to do to change this story…

“Powerful, candid, gripping, funny, poignant, sad, worrying, inspiring. Shôn’s performance is vivid, passionate, insightful. The story taps into a widely-held need to do something”
