Learn how to code your own neopixel light sequence on the BBC Micro:bit and see your customised laser cut city scape light up.

The Electric Citizens Takeover is the perfect fun summer activity for children of all levels of experience. Whether you have used any of this tech before or not, this  summer lab will guide you through a dynamic workshop led by by digital maker Katy Marshall, giving you the skills to create your own projects and help build Electric City. 

In this lab, you will learn how to build a 'light box' building including creating the circuits to connect the digital components and coding the light sequence for the neopixel lights.  

This is a 2.5 hour workshop beginning at 10am and finishing at 12.30pm.  Please bring a laptop with you or another suitable device to support coding.

  • Electric Citizens need to be age 9 - 13 at the time of the event.
  • Bring your own device: participants will need to bring their own laptop suitable for accessing the internet and running Scratch and Makecode. If this is not possible please let us know.
