Bharatnatyam Arangetram of Linnéa Husmann

Date:Sat 22 Jun
Price:Free (ticketed)

Linnea Husmann, senior student at Sanskruti School of Dance brings you an evening of Bharatanatyam dance, a South Asian dance form. This is Linnea’s maiden performance, called an Arangetram, for which she will be performing eight dance pieces accompanied by live Carnatic music. Choreography is by Krishna Zivraj-Nair (Sanskruti School of Dance), Deepa Ganesh and Chamu Kuppuswamy.

The dances chosen for this evening feature a combination of rhythm and drama. Rhythmic footwork, intricate hand gestures, and facial expressions are fundamental components of Bharatanatyam vocabulary. Linnea will incorporate all of these into her dances to tell you stories from Indian mythology.

The evening was created by Krishna Zivraj-Nair, artistic director of Sanskruti, Cambridge. Her dance company as well as students of the dance school have performed Bharatanatyam at various prestigious platforms such as U. Dance East Regional Platform, Cambridge Junction, and London RichMix.
