A performance by Naomi Sheldon

‘I keep seeping out of myself.

The problem is when I feel too much in here, the edges of me can’t contain whatever this is inside, this ball of feeling. It’s violent and ugly and it’s embarrassing and it grows until it’s pressing up against the insides of my skin and I feel like I’m going to tear open, and I guess I, yeah, I feel like I’m going to… disappear.

I mean will I evaporate? One of these days am I going to evaporate? Right here?’

We’re in Sheffield, it’s the 90s and GG is growing up with her three best friends. Life is an exploration of snacks, music, vaginas and witchcraft. Only GG isn’t sharing her secret. Her experience of living feels too extreme. And the more she feels, the less she can stay in her body. As her sexuality awakens and events shake her youthful certainties, she learns to make herself numb. But when you switch off your feelings, how can you make good decisions? And what happens if you’re trying to please the wrong people?
