Fire Works

Date:Wed 07 Jul 2021
Time:7.30pm
Venue:Cambridge Junction Courtyard (outside seated socially distanced event)
Price:Pay What You Feel

Join us seated around a midsummer fire for a mixed bill of original new theatre, song, storytelling and dance. All four extracts are of as yet unfinished work which has been developed with the support of Cambridge Junction during lockdown, in its first public outing.

Lineup includes (running order TBC):

  • John Barleycorn Must Die by Chloe France is a one woman, actor musician show set in Norfolk. It's about the land, taking up the mantle of a family farm and the risks run by those who produce our food.

  • Amber by Anna Melander is a dance solo performed within a restricted space inspired by the feeling of isolation, the idea that you are waiting for something to happen, for the traffic light to switch to green or even red.

  • Whole by Emma Spearing is a solo show about two people, one of them is on stage, the other isn't. It is a raw, tender, messy love story, a wound splashed in whiskey and haunted by ghosts. It uses autobiographical story-telling, immersive soundscapes and song, to explore complex grief, identity and belief systems.

  • The Adventures of Jeezley Crowe by Jenny Swindells is a one woman storytelling piece set in 1830s London about the curiously ugly antihero Jeezley Crowe and her unlikely friendship with servant boy Das Brown. The piece explores prejudices, morals and human behaviour within the frame of folklore and fairy tales from around the world.
