Dante or Die: Site-Based Work

Date:Wed 03 Oct
Time:6.30 - 9.30pm
Price:£20 | £15 (Troop members)

In advance of their site-specific production User Not Found, presented in the J2 Foyer on 17th October, Dante or Die invite you to explore their approach to site-based work. This 3 hour session will be a chance for artists to experience some of Dante or Die’s methods for creating site-based work including devising techniques, creating robust narrative in site-based theatre and relationship to audience. You will explore methods of creating new work based on the company’s experience devising and writing original performances in a variety of site-specific contexts such as cafes, leisure centres and self-storage buildings. It will be led by the company’s Co-Artistic Director Daphna Attias.

Dante or Die makes bold and ambitious site-based performances that tour across the country. We transform ordinary spaces to create unique and intimate promenade experiences. Led by co-founders Daphna Attias and Terry O’Donovan, we work to interrogate and celebrate the human condition through the exploration of contemporary social concerns. We are SITELINES Associate Artists at South Street in Reading, which champions performance in unusual locations. More information on the Company here.

Our creative masterclasses, run in parallel to our theatre & dance season, offer a practical insight into the creative processes of some of the country’s leading artists and companies. They are aimed at people who are serious about making theatre, but not necessarily full-time professionals.
