The Alley Club Cambridge and SLB Promotional Enterprises are very proud and privileged to bring you The Cambridge Soul Festival! We believe it’s an incredible value for money reunion of two great, original US Soul singers plus support and DJs!

Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band

Quite simply Geno is a legend on the 60’s Soul scene and beyond. He moved to England from Indiana, USA in the 60’s and quickly established himself (via Ipswich and London) as one of the most exciting live acts on the circuit.

Two of the biggest selling albums of the 60’s were Geno’s “Hand Clappin’ Foot Stompin’ Funky Butt Live” and “Hipsters Flipsters and Finger Poppin’ Daddies”. The former should be played in full on 8th Nov.

His status as the undisputed “King Of Soul” was cemented forever by Kevin Rowland and Dexy’s Midnight Runners in the 1980’s with the world wide no. 1 smash hit single “Geno”, a tribute to the great man himself.

Lucas – The Bruce Lucas Trio

Originally from Ohio (near Detroit) USA, Bruce Lucas also came to England in the 60’s. Based around Norfolk and Suffolk, Lucas catapulted to almost cult status singing with The Mike Cotton Sound. He has recorded for the Polydor, Pye and MGM labels and has appeared alongside fellow Americans and giants within the music industry, James Brown, The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Ben E. King, Edwin Starr & The Drifters.

Nowadays Lucas is still in demand as a solo vocal entertainer and on 8th November will be performing in a trio (incl. guitarist & bassist and backing tapes). He brings alive Soul classics by Marvin Gaye, Smokie Robinson, Otis Redding, The Temptations & The Blues Brothers.

Joe Staxx

Joe returns, having supported Susan Cadogan & Owen Grey here last year. He’s a special Blue-eyed Soul talent. Come along and be entertained, sing along and dance to belting classic Soul/Motown & 60’s music from the golden era – the 1960’s! The backing tapes Joe uses pale into insignificance when you hear his incredible voice!

Simon Baker (Aka Meathead!)
Biggleswade, Beds based Soul & Ska singer who many of you will know as being Ex BuBounce singer and more recently he guested with The 2 Tones at Cambridge Ska Festival.
