#adaptation from page to stage
#standing it up without f***ing it up

Based on a gorgeous short story by the Russian writer Andrey Platonov (1899-1951), this new play (working title: BLISS) is both a love story and a tale of souls bruised perhaps beyond repair. One of Platonov’s great themes – the struggle to drag hope from ruins – grew out of his first-hand experience of the Russian civil war and its devastating aftermath. Banned during much of his lifetime, Platonov’s work is only now being widely read in the west – but his hard-won wisdom has real bite in this time of revolutions, wars and perpetual displacement.

Join Fraser, director Paul Bourne and actors from the company as they explore sections of the new play and work out how best to realise the delicate power of Platonov’s vision.
