A night of innovation and contemporary music from the Middle East and North Africa region.

For one night, J1 will be transformed into venue like any in downtown Cairo. Featuring an authentic pop-up restaurant from Bedouin (Mill Road Cambridge) with Arabesque decoration throughout and even a Damascus patterned proscenium across the stage. The stage will feature a truly modern selection of artists from Ramallah, Khartoum and Baghdad. These three celebrated artists will provide a culturally rich, soulful and eclectic offer, providing a window into the modernity, diversity and traditions of Middle Eastern artists seldom seen outside of the region. 

SAMA' (10.30pm-midnight)

An emblematic artist of the Palestinian underground scene, SAMA’ (previously named Skywalker) is the first Palestinian DJ and electronic music producer. SAMA ’ started mixing in 2006 in Ramallah, and started producing her own music and expanding her interest in synthesis in 2010, with a focus on Electronic Music, more specifically Techno, House, and other deeper sub-genres. Her sound: a powerful punchy techno, dry and musical all at once, with a very unique twist of her own.

AMIRA KHEIR (9pm - 10.30pm)

Hailed as the ‘Diva of the Sudanese desert’ (BBC World News) Sudanese-Italian singer Amira Kheir has been enchanting audiences around the world with a sound inspired by traditional music from her homeland Sudan and anchored in jazz, soul, rock and desert blues. The result is a unique sound that gives tasters of Sudan’s rich musical heritage of distinctive Saharan blues made up of Nubian and Niloitic melodies, whilst being reflective of the artist’s key global musical influences, expressing itself through improvisation and experimentation. Amira’s music possesses within it ancient musical traditions, yet is delivered with a contemporary vibrancy reflective of London’s multicultural music scene.

KHYAM ALLAMI (7.30pm-8.30pm)

is an Iraqi multi-instrumentalist musician, composer, mix engineer and label manager with a formidable and continually growing international reputation.
