Salon Rouge - Cambridge's No1 Stocking Filler

What a truly dazzling year 2010 has been for Salon Rouge featuring a line up of outlandish artists, vintage music, sensuous decor and masquerading characters. As the team prepare for their grand NYE bash, We spoke to Salon Rouge’s Vintage de Luxe on the team’s favourite memories from 2010, the increasing popularity of burlesque, a glimpse of what is in store at this year’s final sell out event , and what we can expect from the club in 2011...let’s get on with the show!

“Cambridge is showing its true colours as a city of great creativity & individuality, where people are prepared to make that extra effort towards their night out and gather in the sumptuous velvet & sparkly setting that is Salon Rouge. Burlesque is extremely popular all over the world and here at Salon Rouge we keep close to the true meaning of the genre by bringing you the finest acts on the circuit.  Highlights have included Ursula Martinez (her hanky panky magic routine was really quite shocking!), Bruce Airhead  (oh boy how they screamed), the beautiful Vicky Butterfly (so graceful and elegant), Romany Diva of Magic (pure magical class!) and not forgetting The Great Voltini (we'll never forget his immortal line "..and now to finish with a touch of class, I'm gonna shove an electrode up my a**!")

Even if you don’t recognise all the theatrical names, you can be sure of a magnificent night out, Salon Rouge continues to welcome one & all into its betassled bosom on the penultimate Saturday of each month from Sept ~ May.

Salon Rouge would not be the wonderfully unique & successful night that it is without all of the awe-inspiring people that make it possible.  The hosts of Salon Rouge at Splendid Events would very much like to give special festive thanks to Felicity Flappes ,The Appletinis, Dolly Go-Tightly, Cherry Go-Round, DJ Crash & Burn, Harlow HeartBreak, Hocus Pocus Theatre,  The Junction, Andy Stubbs, Rory Lloyd, Minnie Le Moocher & Lolly Streek.

We’re very much looking forward to 2011 being another year of wonderful evenings of theatrical burlesque and old fashioned music hall, with lots of wonderful new acts including Des O'Connor, Laurie Hagen, Rod Laver and Marianne Cheesecake. Added to this will be top tunes dusted off from a different era with a few modern spices thrown in and a general air of decadence. We’re very much looking forward to ending such a successful year with our sold out New Year’s Eve Party where we welcome back the amazing Anna Fur Laxis. Anna tells us that she is delighted to be asked back as “Salon Rouge is definitely one of the high points of the UK Burlesque circuit, they've found a beautiful venue in The Junction, everyone behind the scenes is passionate about making sure the night is a success and the crowd is fantastic. The atmosphere on New Year's Eve will be something to experience!
