The Junction is a vibrant centre of youth culture with a uniquely varied programme covering theatre & dance, live music, clubs, comedy and events for young people. We are committed to cutting-edge performances and developing new artists and audiences.
The Junction has three spaces:
The Junction 1
Opened in 1990, J1 is The Junction's live & loud space with a programme of gigs featuring both established names and rising stars. A standing only space, it has a capacity of up to 1050 and also hosts the biggest club events in Cambridge.
The Junction 2
J2 was opened in 2005 with lottery funding secured through Arts Council England. Inspired by Georgian courtyard theatre, it is an intimate and uniquely flexible 220-capacity space for both seated and standing events for The Junction's innovative programme of theatre, dance, comedy and world & roots music.
The Junction 3
J3 is The Junction's studio space, specifically designed with a sprung floor for rehearsals and artists' residencies. It is home to The Junction's performance development work.

The Junction 1
There are two bars and a hot food outlet in the main auditorium, with a third lounge bar open upstairs on club nights. The bars serve a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
During weekday events the bar is open from 7pm. For late night events the bar shuts at 2am. Under 18s can choose from a varied selection of soft drinks from the bar.
The Junction 2
J2's cafe is open for events and serves a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks including quality fresh coffee.

The Junction 1
J1: The main auditorium:
With a capacity of 850 this space is perfect for live music and large events. The hire fee includes provision of sound and lights, technical staff, box office services, security & stewards, bars and bar staff, cloakroom facilities... everything you need to put on a successful event except the acts - and for an extra fee we can even book those for you!
The venue also makes an original location for product launches.

The Junction 2
The stage area is approximately 8.5m x 8.5m and the auditorium has a maximum seating capacity of 223. There is also a foyer cafe bar, box office and dressing rooms. The venue has extensive technical capabilities.
Included in the hire fee is:
• Full access to the performance space, dressing room and technical facilities from 9am on the first day of performance.
• Technician to assist with the get-in, set up and get-out and to remain on duty during each performance.
• Duty manager, front of house stewards, bar and box office staff as required to cover the event itself.
• Marketing: Free advice and contacts to help you bring maximum attention to your performance.
• Box office facilities: Ticketing and box office facilities are available if required. Tickets available from The Junction Box Office and also from the Corn Exchange.
Commercial or community rates are available. A 50% deposit is payable for first time hirers.
The Junction 3
There is also a 14m x 9m education and rehearsal studio available for classes, meetings and conferences.

In accordance with new legislation of 2007, The Junction is a smoke-free venue. The Junction provides a secure smoking area in the rear car park that operates at club events only. Customers wishing to use the smoking area must buy a wristband from the cloakroom for £1.
