Ably plugging the void that the Stone Roses left behind, these Junction favourites return with more of their graceful brand of muscular guitar pop.
The acclaim The Bluetones got when they first appeared on the scene, in the mid nineties Britpop era, was well justified. Their first outing, Expecting to Fly, flew to Number 1 in the album charts and singles like Slight Return (charted at Number 2) and Marblehead Johnson made a huge impact, with their catchy, tight tunes and clever lyrics.
The reaction from fans in far flung parts of the UK to this Spring’s huge tour, when fifty dates took them everywhere from Penzance to Ullapool, has been overwhelming and also rewarding. The new album, Luxembourg, is selling well despite the band doing hardly any national press this century! The album was preceded by a double A-side single, ‘Fast Boy/ Liquid Lips’.
2003 has turned out to be a more successful year for The Bluetones than even they could have dreamed of with chart hits, Top Of The Pops, new fans, international interest and acclaim.
