Based in New York, Troika Ranch is a company on a mission to create live performances that offer a hybrid of dance, theatre and interactive digital media. Exploring essential human attributes in a time of accelerating change and growing physical disconnection, Surfacing offers a world where real-time movement is captured by onstage cameras and is subsequently trapped inside the surface of a video screen.
In a world where the real interplays with the virtual, are you on the inside or on the outside, and do you have the courage to break through?
Premiered at: Danspace Project, New York City - May 2004
This performance forms a part of a residency by Troika Ranch in the East of England arranged by essexdance in association with the International Workshop Festival.

‘Beautiful, dreamy video images would periodically float over everything.’ OffOffOff.com
