A little girl lies in bed with a cold. She wipes her nose on a tissue and look! The tissue’s turned into a bird.
And so begins our story. It’s a tale of dreams, landscapes and creatures. Of imagination running wild. And it’s all conjured up by the deft skills and superb puppetry of Dynamic New Animation (DNA), a theatre company with a rich history of touring productions for children.
A-tishoo is strongly based on the visual, with only occasional poetry and nonsense rhymes. As such, it’s perfect for under 5s who are guaranteed to be stimulated, absorbed and engaged by the magical world created by light and shadow, paper and performer. The accompanying soundscape and projected imagery merely add to the overall sense of wonderment.
Since 1994, DNA has created several shows for children starting with the original and still highly loved Thurtinkle show. DNA made their first appearance in May 1994 at the Punch & Judy May Fayre festival Covent Garden, London.
The company has toured the Royal Exchange, Manchester and the Lyric Hammersmith, London. They’ve also appeared at The World Festival of Puppetry in France and our very own Strawberry Fair.
