John Etheridge is a renowned jazz fusion guitarist, founder member of Seventies Canterbury rock outfit Soft Machine and best known for his work with Stephane Grappelli.
The Zappatistas started as a commission from Nottinghamshire County Council when John was approached by Dave Groome to put together a band for a one off performance at the Newark festival in October 1998. John then contacted Steve Lodder and together they chose the material to perform a selection of Frank Zappa's music with the thrilling line up of: Annie Whitehead - trombone / Teena Lyle - percussion / Simon Bates - tenor saxophone / Paul Jayasinha - trumpet / Rob Sratham - bass / Mike Bradley- drums. The enthusiasm and success of the performance convinced them all to take the show to further audiences.
Tickets £16 full / £12 Cambridge Modern Jazz Club members & students / £15 Arts Picturehouse members.

What's the time? It's David O'Doherty time.
Prepare to have your world rocked (in quite a gentle way) as David O'Doherty, the Irish viscount of rumpled whimsy, the marble fawn of tiny keyboard based musical comedy, embarks on his first ever UK tour.
There will be some sitting, there will be some standing, there will be a song called Bangin'.
David has been announced as the winner of the presigious if.comedy Award at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival. Previous recipients of this award include Brendon Burns, Rich Hall and Al Murray.
Strictly 16+. Bar open from 7pm.
