Each season we host a selection of innovative developmental showcases from regional artists. Join us for a taster of interdisciplinary, experimental work.
Soul Play is a powerful piece of dance theatre exploring the archetypal idea of 'soul' in a secular world. Written by Anna Reynolds and choreographed by Kate Flatt. A Mercury Theatre and Trestle Arts Base co-production, supported by Arts Council England, East and The Junction.

Showcase workshop
A workshop for choreographers exploring the use of text and metaphor in dance
Following the Soul Play showcase, join Kate Flatt, Anna Reynolds and the performers for a post show workshop: Dancing With Words (2pm - 5pm, £6), in which Kate will share strategies for making dance using script and metaphor. Aimed at choreographers, this will be a unique opportunity to work with a choreographer highly experienced across a range of dramatic forms and to learn more about the role of the directorial voice in contemporary dance-theatre. The working process will involve uncovering and sharing stories to create context. This will be a practical workshop and Choreographers are invited and encouraged to attend with a dancer/performer of their choice.
