Bryony Kimmings

Bryony Kimmings is a Live Artist based in Cambridge, she creates full length performance works, cabaret, homemade music, short films, and spoken word. Her work is larger than life, haphazard, loud, often dangerous, somewhat unpredictable but above all fun. She is inspired by the taboos and anomalies of British culture and her work promotes the airing of her own dirty laundry to oil conversations on seemingly difficult subjects. In 2010 Bryony won a Total Theatre Award for her Escalator East to Edinburgh show Sex Idiot, a glittering, unabashed tour through her true-life sexual misadventures and self-realisations.

This year Bryony hosted Junction Sampled: Festival of Performance where she also presented Mega, an individual audio piece exploring those moments in life when the magnificent becomes the mundane. Her new full length show 7 Day Drunk is co-commissioned by The Junction and Soho Theatre and investigates the historical links between artists and mind enhancing drugs. Created solely from material made during a 7 day experiment in which Bryony was kept in various states of scientific drunkenness. Performed sober. Catch the show as part of the 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe at Assembly (George Sq) Fri 05 – Sun 28 August. Click here to visit Assembly’s website.
