In a departure for Hotbed we present a world premiere translation of a fabulous French farce from Georges Feydeau translated and reworked by the master playwright Ranjit Bolt. Trouble is starting to brew and Follavoine is getting desperate. His merchandise (chamber pots) simply must go today, but he's not the only one who is desperate - his young son really has to go too! Throw into the mix a frustrated wife, a long-suffering maid, a senior military man, a couple of love triangles and some misplaced purgatives and you've got all the ingredients for a truly wonderful farce.

Ranjit Bolt was born in Manchester and is one of Britain's leading translators for the stage. His translations (most of them in rhyming verse) have been produced by the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company and Sir Peter Hall, and in leading repertory theatres in the US. Ranjit's work includes The Liar, Cyrano de Bergerac and Tartuffe, and he was awarded an OBE in the 2003 New Year's honours list for services to theatre.

Georges Feydeau is recognised as one of the great French playwrights, with work characterised by its immaculate construction, complex twists and laugh-out-loud hilarity. His plays have been continuously revived throughout the last century and Going Potty is a classic farce.
